Senior Hydrogeologist
Requirements :
- Master’s Degree in Hydraulic Engineering / Hydrogeology.
- Minimum 10 years experience in this field.
- Have experience in drainage system design.
- Proficiency in English is a must.
- Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills.
- A working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, processes and procedures.
- Willing to travel to sites.
Job Description :
- Hydraulic and hydrological modelling using relevant hydrological and hydrogeological software packages.
- Design and implementation of hydrogeological investigations of soil, bedrock, groundwater and surface water.
- Overseeing, participating and managing in field investigations involving drilling, geologic logging, sampling of various media, borehole instrumentation, well design/installation and aquifer testing.
- Development of 3D Geological & Groundwater Models using various digital tools and geostatistical software packages.
- Development of numerical models is not essential but will be seen as advantageous e.g. MODFLOW, FEFLOW, HYDRUS, SEEP/W, and other software packages.
- Duties including preparing scope of works/workplans and managing project budgets, schedules, health + safety and project staffing.
- Have experience in drainage system design, flood risk analysis, general water management.
- Working closely with geotechnical and mine planning engineers and risk assessors to characterize and resolve complex surface and sub-surface water-related issues.
- Providing hydrogeological input to geotechnical assessments of mining operational and waste dump areas.
- Preparation of technical reports describing field investigations, remedial activities and monitoring results to satisfy TARPS and company standards.
- Implementation of site safety systems such as risk assessments, JSEA, hazard identification.
- Assist with the development of water governance framework, implementation and maintaining water management standards for Merdeka Operations.
- Implementation and review of trigger action response plans (TARPs).
- Regular travel to site to inspect, overview and liaise with site teams to meet operational needs.
