PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk has won the Gold Star Award in the Big Cap category at the Investortrust ESG Awards 2024, held at Hotel Aryaduta in Jakarta on November 26, 2024. The event, themed “Celebrating the ESG Leaders in Shaping a Sustainable Future,” was organized to recognize companies that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to integrating sustainability principles across their operations.
The award was presented by Sachin Gopalan, Director of Investortrust, to Boyke Poerbaya Abidin, Chief External Affairs of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk. “This award acknowledges Merdeka’s commitment and efforts in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects into our business operations,” Boyke said. He also emphasized that this recognition serves as motivation for Merdeka to continue strengthening its commitment to sustainability in every aspect of its operations.
In his address, Primus Dorimulu, CEO of Investortrust, highlighted that the award is given to companies that have consistently implemented sustainable practices, effectively managed ESG risks and opportunities, and maintained solid financial performance. The awardees are expected to serve as examples for other companies, demonstrating how sustainability can be seamlessly integrated with long-term value creation.
The jury of the Investortrust ESG Awards 2024 included leading figures in the ESG field, such as Chairman Prof. Roy Sembel (Professor at IPMI International Business School), Prof. Sidharta Utama (Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia), and Primus Dorimulu (President Director of Investortrust).
Bahtiar Manurung, ESG & Climate Manager at PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk, who also attended the event, noted that this award would accelerate the integration of ESG principles within the company. He added that this achievement will not only enhance Merdeka’s reputation among stakeholders, but also increase the company’s credibility as a leader in sustainability practices within the industry.
