Headquartered in Jakarta, Merdeka is an Indonesian metals and mining holding company that explores, mines, and processes gold, silver, copper, and other minerals through subsidiaries operating across three islands in Indonesia. Merdeka also owns a subsidiary providing mining contracting services.
Today, Merdeka operates three mines: the Tujuh Bukit Gold Mine in Banyuwangi, East Java; the Wetar Copper Mine on Wetar Island, Southwest Maluku; and the Pani Gold Mine in Pohuwato, Gorontalo, which is operated by its subsidiary, Merdeka Gold Resources (EMAS).
Merdeka is also developing the Tujuh Bukit Copper Project, one of the world’s largest undeveloped underground copper-gold projects. In addition, Merdeka is developing Merdeka Battery Materials (MBMA) to support the global electric vehicle battery materials value chain. MBMA operates integrated nickel mining and processing facilities connected to industrial parks in Sulawesi.
