Merdeka Wins Lestari Awards 2024

PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk has been honored with the Lestari Awards 2024 in the Human Rights & Labour Standards category, recognizing the company’s commitment to sustainable practices within the industrial sector.

The award was presented by the Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, to Boyke P. Abidin, Chief of External Affairs of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk, at the Raffles Hotel in Jakarta on August 21, 2024, during the culmination of the Lestari Summit 2024.

With the theme “Fostering Sustainability Through Inclusive Local Practice and Policy Making,” the Lestari Summit 2024 focuses on four key pillars: inclusivity, local practices, policy, and transition. These pillars are deemed essential in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia. The event was organized by four major media outlets under KG Media: Kompas.com, Kompas TV, Kontan, and National Geographic Indonesia.

The winner selection process was conducted independently by Ernst & Young Indonesia, in collaboration with a panel of judges comprising academics, sustainability practitioners, and association leaders experienced in monitoring SDG progress.

Chief Marketing Officer of KG Media, Dian Gemiano, expressed hope that this award would inspire other companies to continue innovating and adopting sustainable practices. Plans to expand the Lestari Awards to the regional level in 2024, partnering with major media groups across ASEAN, are also expected to create broader recognition and strengthen commitment to sustainability throughout the region.
