Located on a remote island, the Wetar Copper Mine derives electricity from a series of generators. To reduce CO2 emissions, the Wetar Copper Mine is gradually using more efficient generators. Five of the 18 generators have been replaced and the rest will all be replaced in the first quarter of 2022. The fuel savings of up to 10% in the new model generators will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 1,600 tons of CO2 per year.
