Merdeka Group and UI Faculty of Medicine Collaborate for Sustainable Health
Merdeka Group has partnered with the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FK-UI) for the Merdeka Social Health and Baseline Assessment (Merdeka SH-BA) program. This initiative aims to comprehensively address social and health challenges within Merdeka Group’s mining operations.
The collaboration was formalized on November 28, 2024, at PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk’s headquarters in Jakarta. The agreement was signed by Albert Saputro, President Director of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk, and Prof. Dr. Ari Fahrial Syam, Dean of FK-UI.
Merdeka SH-BA builds on the M-CARE program, which prioritizes employee and community health, focusing on preventing drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis. M-CARE also engages multiple stakeholders to ensure program sustainability and develop health champions in local communities.
“This collaboration is a synergy between industry and academia that we believe will deliver tangible and sustainable solutions,” said Albert Saputro.
Prof. Ari expressed his support, emphasizing the importance of corporate contributions to nearby communities. “As an educational institution, UI fully supports this partnership, especially if it can be expanded to a larger scale. It also allows us to explore other potential health issues, particularly in the mining industry,” he stated.
This partnership reflects Merdeka Group’s commitment to creating significant benefits for surrounding communities while fostering a safe and healthy working environment.
