Energy is a crucial aspect in supporting Merdeka’s operations, from mining processes to metal and mineral processing. We consistently strive to use renewable energy across all our mining sites, such as Tujuh Bukit Gold Mine, which generated by a geothermal power plant (PLTP), and Wetar Copper Mine, which harnesses hundreds of solar modules. Additionally, Merdeka also uses B35 Biodiesel for operational vehicles and heavy machinery .
We have installed solar panels on surface water monitoring devices, slope stability monitoring equipment, and lighting systems at our mines, particularly those not connected to the power grid, like at Wetar Copper Mine. This effortto use renewable energy aims to lower operational costs, improve efficiency, and minimize environmental impact. Merdeka also collaborates with external consultants to assess risks, identify opportunities, and evaluate energy efficiency programs.
